FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What subjects do you cover for the 11+?
As 11+ English specialists, we cover SPaG (spelling, punctuation, and grammar), Creative Writing, Verbal Reasoning and Comprehension.
Are lessons online or in person?
Our live lessons take place online via Zoom, however, as we’re experienced classroom teachers, there is no danger of your child losing focus. Lessons are always fun and engaging to make sure each student is excited about their learning and eager to make progress. Your child will just need a reliable internet connection, a webcam, and access to a computer or laptop.
How is the tutoring tailored to my child?
Our small-group sessions are perfect for students to learn from each other and challenge themselves, yet by capping numbers, we are always able to spend 1:1 time with each student to give them the personalised support they need. We also offer weekly 1:1 drop sessions, so that students can ask for clarification and revisit material in a supportive space.
Who are your tutors?
Every tutor is DBS checked, and carefully selected for their subject expertise and ability to engage students.
Do you offer a trial session?
Yes, we offer trial lessons so your child can get a feel for the group and format before committing.
How long are the lessons?
Our 11+ English lessons involve a two-hour commitment spread over two weekday evenings.
Are there any contracts or minimum commitments?
We ask for an initial three-month commitment, as this allows time for your child to settle in and for their tutor to gain a clear understanding of their learning needs. After that, we require one month’s notice. This helps maintain continuity for your child and ensures we can support a smooth transition if you decide to pause or stop lessons.
Can you guarantee my child will pass the 11+?
We don’t offer guarantees as success at the 11+ depends on multiple factors, including their starting point, practice and exam performance on the day. What we can promise is a structured, supportive and high-quality learning environment where your child is encouraged to do their best.
How will I know if my child is making progress?
Staying in regular communication with parents is really important to us. We work with families who are able to invest the time and support in their child’s learning, and are able to actively work with us. We always reach out to parents if a student is struggling or requires further challenge as well as share regular written progress reports with parents to keep them informed.
Are the learning materials provided?
Yes, we provide all necessary resources.
